Supporting Youth & Education
I am partnering with a local school district to support families in need. I purchase and/or collect children and toddler size clothing, toys and miscellaneous items and give them to one of the teachers to turn in to be distributed to the students in the district. Most recently, I was able to get a large bag of children's clothes on sale, about 25 items, for only $6.00, thanks to the clearance section and Old Navy Rewards program. My neighbors also donated books and a globe for the classroom.
Since June 2017, I have donated over 300 children/toddler size clothing and 45 toys or miscellaneous items.
Adults Overcoming Adversity
I collect adult clothing and household goods to donate to a local homeless shelter. Most recently, some neighbors provided a large donation that included men's and women's clothing, storage containers, bath towels, hand towels, a water pitcher, cups, pots and pans and silverware.
Since June 2017, I have donated almost 300 adult clothing items and 120 household items.
2017 Minnesota Soap Project
I sought out ways to support to the local homeless population. My journey led me to be able to network with a general manager of a local hotel. We collected bars of soap and I coordinated the reprocessing and made new bars to donate to local non-profits. The soap is included in welcome kits given to clients entering shelters or transitional housing. During 2017, we donated over 200 bars of soap.
